Family Life

OK, I'm trying to recover from this weekend...We drove to NH, stayed with my Mom, saw two of my sisters, and had a wonderful time. Then we drove to Manchester, VT and dropped Noah off in the middle of nowhere with a trail going off into the woods and he waved goodbye and that was it. Except for the crying. sigh. I don't know why it is sooo hard to let go of this kid. I know it is good for him to spread his wings, have adventures, become his own person, figure things out. I know all this. I really do...

  5. YAY!!! Noah called this morning from Straton Mountain where he had to climb the fire tower to get reception!!! Had a mouse running around his head all the first night at the shelter he stayed at so didn't sleep much--welcome to the club!! (not the mouse but definately the lack of sleep!!!) I'm very happy to hear from him and he will call again from Bennington! Thank you everyone for your caring comments!! xoxo

  6. Oh, Cait... those pictures just about brought tears to my eyes... the whole story is there! I'm glad he's called and I'm sure he'll have a wonderful adventure, though, of course, it's hard for you. Keep us posted.

  7. Oh Lord, Rebecca, I've been getting the bends with him! First I'm worried about bears then he calls and some wonderful family picked him up hitchhiking, fed him, did his laundry(!), and he was doing magic tricks (which are amazing) for their kids! So he calls from their house and I'm so relieved that I start crying! Then he is off to find a hostel for the next night walking 23 miles through Mt. Graylock Park. He is sooo funny, he says he doesn't like sleeping on the ground! H E L L O! Noah you are hiking the trail!! phew. Maybe will run out of money soon! xo Cait

  8. Ah, don't they send us the ever-changing roller coaster ride? Mine do, even when they aren't out on such adventures. And I know if my middle child goes on the cross-country bike ride next year like he is planning, I'll be just like you. But how wonderful to know that there are caring people along the way... what a great experience for our children! Ha ha, though, about sleeping on the ground. Beds don't magically appear on the trail, do they?
