New Scarf for Kori...

OK I do not have any idea where this is going...my customers are much more adventurous than I am and sometimes they help me design...I hope to work on this today because even though it is sunny and bright out I have no one to ride with and feeling just enough energy to muck out the barn and maybe, maybe, maybe move some more sand into the yucky part of their paddock.  The old barn is still a mess but I expect them back to work this weekend.  Meanwhile...

So cheerful!  I love it!

The barn is down...

8 hours later the barn is down.  It looks like a bomb went off.

But I now have this amazing view of my field
and having the hulking, dark broken barn
out of my life makes me very happy.

And they will be back (maybe tomorrow) and
will work until everything is cleaned up.
Yay.  This is a load off my heart.

Barn Demolition Preparation!

The equipment is coming for demolition tomorrow morning!!  Finally!  There goes my weaving weekend, however, because we've also rented the bobcat so we can scrape the top layer off the paddock and put down a layer of sand.  Hopefully that will alleviate the horses slipping and sliding for a while.

Should be interesting taking this monster down.  And I can't wait to see the view when it is cleaned up!

Rainbow Shawl is Done!

Well...I had fun with this one for sure!  It is almost ready
to go...just have to tie the little knots on the ends
of the fringe...

So...one more to weave...hope Kori likes
this one...and back to designing packages
for the triangle loom.  More on my class
tomorrow...

Rainbow Shawl Continuing...

Done with the weaving on the first shawl...there is one more to go.
Cut the first one away from the rest of the warp.

Pulling the shawl off the front where it was rolled up.

The shawl is now washed, dried, the fringe is trimmed
and I just have to put tiny knots in the fringe yarns
so they don't ravel and sew on the label.
Kori, if you are reading this I will photograph
Sunday and send them to you!

Meanwhile I'm preparing for my triangle class
tomorrow all day...baking, cleaning, setting up...
hoping no one is terribly allergic to my kitties...
rearranging the kitchen to fit the stands.
And of course have to go for a ride
on Django!

Rainbow Shawl/Scarf

I am in love with all this color and texture!  My customer says
she is "drunk with color!"  What a way to go!

Threading the heddles

Done.

Sleying the reed.

Done.

Tying on the front rod.

Done.

Beginning to weave!

Crazy weather the past two days on the farm!
Squalls coming through then bright sun,
then more rain and rainbows!

Kori's Shawl Warp

Warp is done!  It is lovely, amazing, colorful using
lots and lots of my hand-dyed yarns...Plus
many of the yarns have a little sheen.

I tied it up, took it off, and wound it on the loom.

Here it is all ready for threading!  Really excited about this one! All those
bumps and whirls and tufts!

Then I just have to figure out what I want to weave with...

Kori's Shawl

OK...here are the beginnings.  But these pictures give a false sense of being very blue and pink because the yarns are squished together obliterating some of the other colors.  And it will be tempered somewhat by whatever I decide to weave with.  And if I decide when I am warping that I don't like as much of one color as I originally thought, I will just throw some off the back of the loom. No problem.  And if Kori decides that this isn't at all what was in her head I will just list it on Etsy and make another.  So new beginnings.

This is about 5 inches wide

and 6 yards long

Going for 20 inches but not there yet.

Had to stop for the night...and the weekend is pretty booked but I might be able to start getting this on the loom the beginning of next week.

Enjoy the weekend!

Kori's Shawl/Scarf

Just beginning to pull yarns for a commissioned piece...a shawl/scarf...My customer wants vibrant, rainbow of colors, wide like 20 inches or so...

I don't know what I'm doing yet.  I just pulled everything that appealed to me and dumped it into a couple of totes.  I will know more when I start to make the warp.  I think I'll make two shawls...about 6 yards total and maybe 20 inches wide...about 350 threads...hmmm...I love beginnings...

And of course here are the boys this morning.  Django in the foreground, Ronan in the middle, and Dakota last.  This is totally their pecking order as well.

On a sadder note, my barn kitty, Mieux, went missing two days ago.  I have loved her for 14 years...and can't tell you how much I miss her little presence.  I walked all around the farm calling in case I could hear her hurt and needing me but nothing.  Nothing on the road, food still in her dish...Losing companions is such a painful process.
