I am still here, recovering, getting stronger every day and very grateful for all of you and your wonderful, loving comments!!!!!!!! Last week my surgeon here put in a port for my chemo which starts in a week. Actually took 1 1/2 hours to find a vein for the IV and 3 nurses and only 45 min for the actual insertion! Figures. I'm a little freaked by this piece of plastic in my chest and the chemicals they're going to put in but the alternatives seem to be worse so...we do what we have to do. I just got my stitches out yesterday and everything looks good.
AND my model (Katie) came over a couple of days ago and put a saddle on my Dommie and one on Duke and we RODE!! It was wonderful even though we kept it at a walk (ok, I did a little trotting too). The horses were so happy to be out in the field. The sun was out and no bugs and it was a perfect day! Of course right now my legs feel like rubber and I'm a little sore but it certainly did my spirit good!! We topped off St. Patrick's Day with a potluck at my riding instructor's house (Nance) for all the horse ladies (and two horse guys!) and I got to see everyone for the first time in months! Truly a day to remember. Even though I've been exhausted since then--sooooo worth it!!!!
Next Thursday Gary and I are driving down to NYC for my first checkup since the surgery. At least this time I will be able to walk around and see some of the city so I'm looking forward to that! I'm taking pictures this time so my posts won't be so boring!!
Meanwhile, love to all of you--I can't tell you how much your comments mean to me!
xo Cait
Oh Cait... I've been waiting to hear from you again! Wow wow wow!! You went riding? Yay for you! I know that felt good to get out there again, and what a great way to celebrate St. Pat's... with all your riding friends.
ReplyDeleteI'd be "freaked out" too by the plastic tube... anything like that invading my body, but you're right... the alternative doesn't look too good. I'll continue thinking of you, saying prayers for you, and sending out wonderful vibes of strength and healing for you. I'm so glad to hear that you are doing this well, so I expect you to continue on that good path, you hear? And give Gary a hug for me for taking such good care of you!
Stay strong, stay smiling, and stay in touch!!
Hugs and lots of love,
Rebecca
Woo Hoo Woo Hoo Woo Hoo.Seeing you here is such a joy! Great to hear you got to saddle up and go riding!! Always a challenge, how to integrate "normalcy" and one's changing idea of it into life after this kind of experience..Thinking of you lots..fingers crossed for a good meeting at MSK in NYC. Give my regards to Broadway..and lots of love and hugs to you and all your in person supporters.
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice to hear you are feeling better. Looking forward to your new post and NYC photos :) Lots of hugs!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a fab day and well worth the exhaustion. I hope everything goes well at the checkup and with the chemo. Fingers crossed and good wishes winging their way to you. :-) xo
ReplyDeletelove light energy hugs and good vibes to you.
ReplyDeleteHey Cait! Great to hear from you and your posts are not boring at all! We are just so happy when you write, we all think of you very often! Glad to hear you are getting stronger.
ReplyDeleteYou'll get used to the chest port. You just try not to think about it. I think it is better to have it, than for them to search for a vein for an IV everytime, because that is no fun. ... plus just think "temporary". I just had the 2 ports out on my ribs, which i don't miss. I posted that pic on my blog, but still have the chest one in place for maintenence chemo. I just have to make sure i keep the scars out of the sun.
thanks for writing and keeping everybody posted. take good care, girlfriend. laura :D
Hi Cait, Best news ever to hear that you are up and out on your horse. What fun and how exciting that must be after all this confinement. Enjoy your trip to NYC and yes pics would be great, but best of all is hearing that you are getting better. Think of you often.
ReplyDeleteHi Cait, good to know that you are feeling better and stronger, wish you go for riding more often :) looking forward to see your pics. Take care and have a safe journey to NYC.
ReplyDeleteHi Cait, I have heard so much about you, but it i so much better to hear from you. New York is so pretty in the Spring and the upper west side is nice with the park or a walk along the East River, both so close to MSK. Enjoy the visit after the Dr. visit!
ReplyDeleteDear Cait,
ReplyDeleteWonderful to read your post, and so pleased to hear you are feeling a little stronger. Wishing you all the best for your chemo - my thoughts and prayers will be with you. Take care, and keep in touch!
