Annie's Towels Done!

Half of Annie's towel order is done!  Mailing out Monday...
and the 4 extra ones are sold to one of my lovely
returning customers!

So...next Saturday a local art fair and then another Annie warp for
12 more towels.  Meanwhile this week I am tagging and packing
and, of course, dog training and riding while it is
lovely, cool and without bugs!

Hannah at 13 weeks...

So far...she has learned to sit, lie down, leave it (sometimes), wait,
and comes to name.
learning to heel, lie down and wait for food.

Took a long walk in the woods this morning off lead
and burned off some energy this cool morning
....
Then went to the farmer's market to meet and greet.
Farmers market wasn't as crowded this time and she
was very well behaved.  The first time I brought her
she was overwhelmed with tons of people.

Thankfully she doesn't mind her kennel and took
a long nap so I could hem some towels...It has
been interesting to try to work with a puppy!

Enjoying this weather!

Annie's Towels off the Loom!!

Not so easy anymore to get things done around here...Even though this puppy sleeps some during the day and spends time in her kennel as well, I am doing training, walking, socializing, puppy play dates (which aren't going so well), feeding, getting up early (which I hate am getting used to) putting weaving stuff up on higher shelves...well, you get the picture.

But I have managed to get 17 towels off one of my looms (12 were ordered by Annie, one of my returning customers) and 4 might be sold already to another returning customer and one I am keeping.  Now comes the tedious part, cutting them apart, pressing the hem, pinning and sewing both ends.  Next, washing, drying, ironing, tagging, photographing and mailing.

The start of another week...

Sister...

My sister, Faith, came for a few days this week!  YAY!!!
I love getting company.  She totally
helped me with Hannah...giving me much needed
rest from the constant servitude!  Hannah is
doing fine but still she is a puppy...
So together we all went for long
walks in my woods...sat on my
porch with a glass of wine...
ate good food...talked and talked...
rested...shopped...more wine...

And she is learning the hammer dulcimer!
What a beautiful instrument!

But today she had to go home...back to Otis, MA and
in October, back to Florida.  Miss you, Faith!
Hannah misses you, too!

Annie's Striped Rainbow Towels 2015

For the past several years a friend-of-a-friend has ordered towels as Christmas gifts...Used to be 12 towels.  This year it is 24 towels.  Two slightly different warps as well...Below is 1/3 of the warp being wound.  Hopefully today I will be able to do another 1/3 and might be able to work some this week in between the puppy and my sister, Faith, visiting for some days.  I can see this is going to take a while!

Winding 16 towels (you never can have enough!) on the warping reel...

Close-up

All tied up so nothing slips and ready to chain off
in preparation for dressing the loom...

This is the wrap Annie liked...the proportions are not
as exact as I would like but I am fixing that
as I go...

Meanwhile it is another hot, stifling day...90 degrees
and you can't move without sweating...Kinda hot for
the North Country in September!

A walk in the woods with Hannah...

The new road down from the riding arena...Most of the time I have
to drag Hannah until we get to the woods.
Her idea of a walk is a lie-down.  I allow
her plenty of time to smell everything on the
way but we have to have a little walk as well!

My riding/walking path...raked and most of
the rocks dug out...Hannah loves it up here just
not the getting up here!  Once we are in the woods
I drop her leash and let her run and roam.
My place of solace and peace...

Hope everyone's weekend was lovely!

Rayon Shawl...

Warp all wound on, heddles threaded...

Sleyed and tied...

And weaving!  Puppy in her crate expanding her bladder control!

Weaving with a very fine and bumpy rayon twist.

I was going to leave it striped but decided to
lay in pieces of color even though it
slows down the process by
quite a bit...

I at least feel like progress was made!  And Hannah
patiently waited for me until 6:15 this morning!
No accidents in the house for days.  Tolerating her
crate really well.  Being very scheduled so
her body knows what to expect!
