Tiny Dancers

I have a lovely art show on Saturday in the park in Canton, NY.  I do this show every year.  It is a small, artsy show/sale and held on Parent's Weekend for St. Lawrence University (which helps for sales!).  I have been a slug all summer with weaving, I admit.  And Noah helped me with photographing some of my stuff but off came the tags and I also redesigned my business card (also with Noah's help)...sooooo retagging every single piece is quite possibly the most boring job ever...sooooo instead I have been playing with poppy seed head dolls.  I think they are adorable and fun.  They can be used as puppets though they are a little fragile.  I wrapped the stems with wire and covered them with florist tape.  Tied on some string for hands and cut shapes for clothes!

The good news is that I like them and they are fun...the bad news is that I still have to tag all my other items...sigh.

"Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand"

OK I'm off to do some "real" work now...

Dakota

OK I realized that I never even posted that we got another horse...his name was originally Kota but we are calling him Dakota (mostly because I kept calling him Kato because I couldn't for some reason remember Kota).  He is sweet and is fitting in well here with the other two.  Hopefully we will have enough riders to exercise everyone until the bitter cold.

So pretty!  Our little plains pony!  He is 15 years old and has been used for teaching kids barrel racing for the past year.  We are having steering issues and he doesn't stand at the mounting block until the rider is actually settled.  But I think these are fixable and he is a second horse.  He doesn't mind being left behind...calls a little but doesn't get really distressed.

And hopefully he will be happy and content here.

Happy Friday! xo

Hay Time!

First wagonload of hay.  And I'm photographing instead of doing my job.

OK now I'm working with one hand and my hook...then I drag the bales with my hook thingy
and after every 20 bales, Gary comes up and stacks them.

That was last night and there are two more wagons waiting in the yard for loading.  I'm trying to get my friend's twin boys over to help but haven't been able to get ahold of her yet.  Meanwhile
I have to process some tomatoes with my Victorio and some peaches. And ride at 4:30.  And I don't think a nap is going to work in today.  sigh.  I love my naps but maybe tomorrow.

View from the hay mow last evening...And Kota is now called
Dakota...which I think suits him better!

Finishing the barn

Building a run-in for the horses so that when I get another horse it will have plenty of space to get out of the bugs and/or cold.  The main aisle is on the left and the new space is on the right.  We haven't opened it up yet but Noah and Gary have been working for days and I had a friend's twin 15yo boys shoveling tons of dirt as well.

All boarded up...

With plenty of room for equipment as well...

Inside the new run-in

We are getting there!  And looked at a horse the other day down by Binghamton, NY.  He was very adorable, sweet, willing, 15 years old and friendly.  So just waiting to hear from his vet.

Hope everyone's long weekend was wonderful!
